The Mary L. Cook Public Library would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contacted your state representatives in support of public library funding. Legislators across Ohio reported being flooded with calls and emails. Your voices made a real impact.
The Ohio House introduced its final budget bill. While it does not meet Governor DeWine’s proposed funding level for libraries, it includes important concessions that keep funding closer to current levels than originally expected. This progress is thanks to your advocacy.
Substitute House Bill 96 now moves to the Ohio Senate, where lawmakers will begin crafting their own version of the budget. We’ll continue to share updates and let you know if additional action is needed.
For more information, you can read the Ohio Library Council’s press release on HB 96.
Your voice matters and we thank you again for your continued support.
